Notes:
- For a brief design and construction history, see the Introduction, pp. 10-15.
- For justification of the editing, see the Introduction, pp. 20-29.
- Because the numbering of the Rijksmuseum's construction drawings follows Cuypers' original drawing list, the application numbers from 1 through 1500 are reserved for the drawings described in Chapter I. The application numbers from 2000 through 2100 are assigned to the drawings documenting the competition entries. Therefore, the numbering in this category (Chapter II) begins with 2200.
- Not all drawings described in this category are viewable on microfilm in the Reading Room. If the drawing has been filmed, the microfilm number is listed separately.
- When studying drawings that have been filmed, please consult the microfilms first. If you wish to consult the original drawing, you should consult with the reading room staff. The drawing that has not been filmed can be requested using a request slip and then consulted in the reading room.
- It is not always easy to distinguish between the museum building and the director's residence. On many drawings for the museum building, the same theme is worked out for the director's residence in the upper left corner on that sheet. Thus, for research on the director's residence, it is also advisable to consult the drawings for the museum building.
