* brief description:Design for the K.N.V.B. Sportcentrum in Zeist (1960-1964). The sports center consists of several buildings: sports hall, sleeping pavilion, living pavilion, study pavilion, director's residence, dressing rooms near fields.
The sleeping pavilion has a square floor plan, consists of one storey with skylights and has a cantilevered concrete eaves. A patio and toilet room are centrally located; rooms and drying rooms are on the sides.
The living pavilion is also composed of one layer with flat roof (no skylights). However, the façade elements are larger and higher than for the sleeping pavilion. A large concrete truss is placed against one side. The pavilion has a rectangular floor plan with two small recesses. The patio is central, surrounded by the music/reading room and the meeting space to which the kitchen and dining room are adjacent. A patio surrounds the entire building.
The study pavilion has a rectangular floor plan and consists of one storey with a flat roof. Along a corridor are two large theory classrooms with a hall behind it with several more rooms, at the far end is a large cinema.
The sports hall consists of two levels; the recessed entrance level and the first floor with mezzanine. On the entrance level there is a large hall with at right angles to it a long corridor along which the dressing and treatment rooms are located. The hall also provides access to the stairs to the first floor where the sports hall is located (30 by 50 meters). On the mezzanine is the grandstand. The facades are framed at the front by a concrete truss filled with large stones/blocks. The bungalow has an entrance with an L-shaped corridor behind it around which the rooms are located. A covered terrace (concrete awning) completes the rectangle. On the side of the terrace the facades consist largely of glass, the other facades have only narrow strips of windows.
