Before inventory, the archive had the following structure:1. Drawings (mainly construction drawings), with appendices consisting of: correspondence, (and/or) calculations, specifications and conditions, photographs, soil survey reports, supervision diaries, worksheets, weekly reports, minutes of construction meetings, heiregisters, government approvals, quotations and settlements, cost calculations and lists of drawings. These materials were in boxes, totaling 37 meters.2. Study and travel sketches, sketches, preliminary and final designs, and presentation drawings (often of projects under 1.). All drawings were regardless of form, ranging from small sketchbooks to large drawings pasted on cardboard, stored "loose" or in covers in drawers, total 2 1/2 meters.3. Drawings in tubes; 3 1/2 meters.4. Large-format drawings pasted on cardboard.5. Miscellaneous, including: drawings, correspondence, lectures, diaries, diaries, travel journals, photo books, photographs, documentation, etc. The material was "loose," stored in packs and/or boxes, a total of 5 linear meters.Sections 3 through 5 and portions of 2 were unordered, not described and thus inaccessible.Justification of the inventoryThe first chapter of this inventory chapter Drawings and miscellaneous items contains the items in the first category. Given the large quantity of archival material, in order to avoid unnecessary waste of time, it was decided to retain the old numbering of this section (inventory numbers 1 to 1414) and to limit the description to place name, project description and year. The drawings from categories 2, 3, 4 and 5 have been arranged and described (or re-described). See are categorized under the sections Sketches, Preliminary and Final Designs and Construction Drawings. The descriptions indicate the project, location, year(s), and if possible, the numbers of the drawings. If there was a collaborative effort in the creation of project or drawing, this is also mentioned in the description. In the Sketches, Preliminary and Final Designs section further indications are given as to the nature of the individual drawings, e.g. perspective, floor plan et cetera. Since these are almost exclusively sketches, preliminary and final designs, the addition sketch is only given if it is a clear first draft by the architect. N.B's indicate when it concerns a presentation drawing. The classification is chronological. The rest of the material from category 5 was placed in the chapter Other Documents, in the chapter Photographs or in the chapter Documentation. Photographs pertaining to architectural projects are arranged by project and arranged alphabetically by place name. For those who have previously researched in the drawings section now assigned to chapter Sketches, preliminary and final designs, a concordance is included at the end of this inventory with references from old to new numbers and vice versa.Even after the current editing of the archive, projects appear in different places, under different numbers in this preliminary inventory. To maintain an overview of the many projects it is highly recommended to make use of the extensive index at the end of this preliminary inventory. As far as these were known, they have been brought back in accordance with the provenance principle and described in this preliminary inventory. "Notes on the photo archive of Jan Wils "ProcedureAll photographs from the old block 5 have been separated and placed under the inventory numbers ph1 -1025 in a chapter of photographs. The photographs were arranged topographically and alphabetically. This arrangement is largelyThe identified projects have been inserted. The unidentified photographs have been placed at the end of the list. A large portion of the photographed structures were undated in the inventory. Almost all of the projects were dated using the (dated) drawings and the oeuvre lists included in the literature. By including the common project name in the 'description in inventory' field, more uniformity was sought. Photographs have also been rearranged because they were assigned to projects to which they did not belong. The old access numbers were recorded in the photo description form and in a concordance.
