S. van Embden, 1982 [audio]
27-4-1982 S.J. van Embden is interviewed by an unknown interviewer (a cultural historian who is writing a thesis and has joined the Bouwkundige Studie Kring (BSK)). Van Embden talks about studying at TH Delft from 1923 and his lessons from Granpré Molière. Architecture was so small that there was no separate professional association; structural engineers went together with civil engineers. Berghoef starts evenings for architecture students at Oude Delft. In December 1926, Van Embden is asked to give a talk and does so on architecture that is an outgrowth of a cultural ideal. Fellow of the year Hans van der Laan [Dom. van der Laan] attends, hits on it. Later that evening talked about one's own background and one's own cross-religion issues; Reformed, agnostics, Catholics together. First hour participants: Froger, Bob Gerritsen, Henk Gerritsen, Van Romondt, Thomas Nix, Hans van der Laan, Van Epen and Ieperink [Yperink?]. Granpré Molière is asked as (discussion) leader, who invites the group to his home from about 1928. Never more than twelve members, you had to be invited to it.
