The archive contains a collection of immaculately preserved training drawings from 1862 - 1864. The collection also contains quite a few examples for the purpose of training drawings. These include ornamental drawings by J. Carot, including 'Mascarons supportant les consoles du Pont Neuf'.
Many drawings are signed 'Amsterdam, J.M. Furstner' and bear the stamp 'Seen and approved by me: J.H.A.E. de Vries'. Presumably this De Vries was a teacher of Furstner. De Vries adapted the publication 'Anthology from Karl Möllinger's basic principles of the round-arched style, developed from the main buildings and works of art of the Middle Ages - 50 engravings with accompanying text'. These are two anthologies, published in 1861 and again in 1872 by C.L. Brinkman in Amsterdam.
Under the author's name J.H.A.E. de Vries is mentioned 'Leeraar in het Teeken aan de Hoogere Burgerschool en Burger Dag- en Avondschool te Amsterdam'. Possibly Furstner made his drawings at one of these schools.
