* brief description: Design of a Registry building at Den Bosch (1960-1961), projected on the site of the existing registry. Maaskant's first design (17-4-1960) is a basically L-shaped volume, which, however, covers a larger area on the first floor. Via a wide entrance staircase one enters the hall to continue in a straight line to the council chamber. In the long volume on Water Street is a central corridor with meeting rooms and deputies' offices on either side. In the transverse wing, of which the State Room forms the end, there are also the coffee room and a meeting room. In the corner of the L is a patio. An exhibition room adjoins the reception hall. The two floors above it can be divided freely by using a concrete skeleton. The facade of this section hangs in front of the building like a screen. The States Hall has a loft, but is not accessible from the second floor.
The building is connected underground (as was the case with the existing registry building in work 3338) to the newly designed 13-story tower on the square.
6/9-5-1960 a number of floor plan variants are drawn by Van Dommelen, in which, among other things, the Statenzaal on the second floor will be central to the building.
On 28-2-1961 Hulik adopts this theme. His Clerk's Office has a large hall terminated by a grand staircase leading upstairs. On either side of this walkway are three wobbly columns, in analogy to those of the clerk's tower on the square. Between the columns are "checkroom boxes. The reception hall is surrounded by smaller (meeting) rooms, and the same goes for the second "open" element in the building, the patio, which is in roughly the same location as in the previous design.
The staircase first emerges onto a wide platform to then give access to the second floor where the concrete volume of the state hall lies as an object loose in the middle, accessible from any side. The state hall is double height and crowned with a UFO roof. There are bleachers for the public, accessible from the second floor. The floors are further filled with offices along a corridor and around the patio.
