H.P. de Wilde (an in-law relative of Baanders) commissioned bureau Baanders to design the residence. After a few sketch proposals, De Klerk became involved in the project. It is difficult to say exactly what De Klerk's contribution was. De Klerk also made furniture designs for the house; in addition, some of his furniture for 't Woonhuys was used for the house (see publication: Frans van Burkom, 1990, p.35ff.).
