In this architectural guide to the city of Leeuwarden, Kropholler's building at Tweebaksmarkt 48 (originally a branch office for the Life Insurance Company De Utrecht) is discussed in detail. Karstkarel considers the building very important in the development of Dutch architecture. According to the author, the architecture is so extraordinary and the lavish decorations so surprising that, as far as the author is concerned, the building may be considered one of the most interesting works of Dutch Jugendstil.
