The author provides an overview of the history of Scheveningen. The pavilion, built by A. Noordendorp for King Willem I, is discussed separately. April 4, 1826, the pavilion was tendered for NLG 53,700,- and put into use on November 18, 1827. The building was occupied in a festive manner. The history of the Roman Catholic Church in Scheveningen is also described. On May 22, 1830 the request was granted to establish an R.C. church in Scheveningen. June 25, 1834 the church (designed by A. Tollus) with sacristy and rectory was consecrated by Baron van Wijkersloot, bishop of Curium. In the costs of construction, the State had contributed NLG 9000 and the Province NLG 1000.
