Utrecht Cathedral

Several restoration plans for the Cathedral were made between 1840 and 1860, by J. van Maurik, superintendents K. van Vlaanderen, Boll van Bueren and W.J. Kamperdijk (until 1875). This Kamperdijk applied non-weatherproof materials in mock forms. Under his supervision, the large north and south transept windows and bears next to them, also the facades above them were taken in hand, the old sacristy was converted into the sexton's residence, the neglected southwest chapels were let out. Many of the hogels and crucifixes on the pediments were executed in terracotta.
