The report was produced as part of the documentation of state-owned monuments. Among other things, the author describes the renovations made to the building in the 19th century. The building was purchased by the State at a public auction in 1820 for NLG 35,000. The building was designated for the Royal Cabinet of Paintings and Rarities. In April 1822, the architect Ch. van der Straeten proposed a new design for the forecourt. The buildings and walls there were to be demolished and replaced by a fence, so that accessibility was improved. A wide monumental staircase was also to be added to the entrance. After some changes and cutbacks, work began on creating a janitor's residence in the basement of the house. The specifications dated February 14, 1823, were made by A. Noordendorp. Design drawings, made by him for various facets of the remodeling that lasted until 1824, are preserved in the General State Archives. In 1829, work was done in the basement and on the roof, where a large part of the gutter was renewed.
