In Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Maastricht, Groningen, Weert and Hoorn, an inventory was made of the number of rental properties and their location. Furthermore, a survey among the occupants of rental properties collected data about their housing (the rental situation) and personal characteristics. Based on this, conclusions have been drawn and recommendations made, showing that the registration of these properties is very incomplete and that the point system of non-self-contained housing does not play an important role in the case of rental properties. Given the high to very high cost of living of the occupants, rent subsidy for this category is desirable.
