Photo Novel by visual artist/photographer Kim Bouvy is a fictional city description in black, white and gray of her own hometown of Rotterdam. The city is protagonist and décor at the same time in a partly real, partly fictional narrative about the present, past and possible future of this city. Her own photographs and found footage, mixed with texts that refer to science fiction, well-known utopian ideas and elements from the actual actuality and history of Rotterdam together form an allegorical narrative. From this looms the image of a city in which emptiness becomes suspense. It is a city that may not exist, but which everyone nevertheless recognizes
