Frank Havermans : architectural constructions = architectural constructions
The work of Frank Havermans (Breda, 1967) is attracting increasing national and international attention. He constructs complex spatial structures with simple means, without the intervention of an engineer or contractor. His work stems from a combined fascination with architectural space and building construction. The entire spectrum of architecture, from furniture and interiors to installations, buildings and large-scale urbanism, is his field of activity. In addition to this fascination, materiality and the process of making play an important role.~This monograph by Frank Havermans offers, in addition to a thorough documentation of all important works since 1998, a discussion of the surprising angles that make the work so fascinating for many architects. The book also shows models and scale tests alongside the final work as well as photographs of the construction of the work.~Intriging project texts by Frank Havermans explain the origins of the work. ~The book includes an introductory text by Jos Bosman and essays by Aaron Betsky, Charles Esche and Linda Vlassenrood. Frank Havermans is winner of the 2006 Wood Architecture Prize and was nominated for the 2006 AM NAi Prize; he also received an honorable mention from the 2007 Dutch Construction Prize.
