In the introduction to this issue, series editor Kas Oosterhuis emphasizes the importance of developing a design language of a non-standard architecture based on complex geometry and interactive design. This issue includes an interview by Gijs Joosen with BMW design director Chris Bangle on the relevance of emotive behavior in the development of the prototytpe of the BMW Gina. Furthermore, ONL presents the Acoustic Barrier project and the Cockpit. The Cockpit is a good example of parametric design. The image of the business building, which rises from the earthen noise barrier like a transparent cockpit in a flowing movement, was designed from the speed of passing cars on the A2.
