Rome : the centre(s) elsewhere : a Berlage Institute project

An authoritative visual essay on the relationship between urban politics, large scale design and architectural form. The book documents a strategic plan that addresses Romes consular roads in their territorial dimension and combines the scale of infrastructure and the landscape, together with a dense reflection on the meaning of Rome as Urban Paradigm. The book is divided in two parts. The first part is made of the theses on Rome. These theses consist in a projective argument about its past, present, and its possible future. The second part illustrates the strategic masterplan for Rome through six urban design case studies that deepen the possibilities of the overall plan at the architectural scale.
