A great many monuments in the Netherlands become vacant every year: churches, schools, hospitals, water towers, factories. Beautiful buildings with a special past. You can't just demolish them! But what should we do with them? Can these buildings be given a new function without losing their monumental value? And who is going to pay for that? Should we preserve at all costs, or is it time for something new? This teaching package, linked to the NTR television series Hope or Demolition, addresses these questions. The material is suitable for upper secondary and pre-university students, but experience shows that the series is a good first introduction to practice in higher education as well.
