The Emergence of Form is a publication about design. It is about the necessity that precisely that form emerges that is good, just as in nature. Using the development within Maria Blaisse's oeuvre, it is possible to visually follow that one form emerges, as it were, from another. Blaisse has been making designs since 1970. She taught textile design at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam for seventeen years from 1974 and is currently an international guest lecturer. In this publication, Maria Blaisse talks about the profound research into form in different materials and its many applications, both autonomous and product-oriented. This language of form is highlighted from different perspectives from other disciplines.
