The Museu de Arte Moderna (abbreviation: MAM)is an art museum in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. It is located there in Flamengo Park near Guanabara Bay. Founded in the 1940s, the museum is housed in a three-story building with sloping porches. It contains a collection of mainly Brazilian contemporary and modern art consisting of sculptures, photographic works from the 19th century, prints, drawings and paintings, including works by Alfredo Volpi, Anita Malfatti, Tomie Ohtake, Cândido Portinari and Xul Solar, among others. In addition to exhibition spaces, the museum complex includes a library with over one hundred magazine collections and seven thousand volumes in the field of art and a cinema library with a capacity for 165 people where feature films, documentaries and cartoons are shown.
