Van Leeuwen covers chronologically the highlights of both Pierre Cuypers' life and work, showing how autobiography and oeuvre influence and reinforce each other. The recent restorations of Pierre Cuypers buildings such as the Rijksmuseum, Central Station and Kasteel de Haar show that his work has remained relevant throughout the years. Similarly, the Cuypershuis in Roermond has been restored, which makes this publication more than topical.
