The Infoversum is a domed cinema in the city of Groningen. It is the only "fulldome 3D" cinema in the Netherlands. The building, located on the corner of Bloemsingel and Vrydemalaan, was built in 2012-2014. It consists of a 23-meter projection dome surrounded by a structure made of Corten steel. The cinema was designed by Jack van der Palen of Architectural Group Archiview. The initiative to create the cinema came from Groningen professor of astronomy Edwin Valentijn. The Infoversum was opened on June 17, 2014 by Commissioner of the King Max van den Berg. From the beginning, the number of visitors fell short of expectations. On November 24, 2015, the Infoversum was declared bankrupt.
