The book "From cottage to English country house" describes the development from the original English cottages to the English country house style. Following this, it discusses the life and work of Marinus van de Wall and Adrianus Leijen. Their work is represented with many old and new visual materials with beautiful photographs of the various style elements. The combination of stylistic elements created a characteristic architecture that can be characterized as "The Wassenaar Variant" of the English country house style.
