The Papaverhof in The Hague is one of the most pioneering Dutch housing projects. The internationally renowned 1921 garden city suburb by Jan Wils forms a unique synthesis between the aesthetics of De Stijl and the cubic brick architecture of the Nieuwe Haagse School. The neighborhood consists of 68 single-family homes around a green courtyard and 60 porch homes on two adjacent streets in the Bloemenbuurt neighborhood. From the urban design to the architectural details and art applications, almost everything was innovative at the time. Coöperatieve Woningbouwvereniging Tuinstadwijk Daal en Berg celebrates its centenary with the first monograph on this unique project. The Papaverhof is multifacetedly illuminated from the perspective of the city, the neighborhood, Jan Wils, De Stijl, the New Hague School, Daal Berg and its residents.
