In 1937, architect A.J. Kropholler was commissioned to design a new Town Hall. When it was inaugurated in 1938, the municipality published the booklet "How the Wateringen Town Hall came into being. This described the process and bumps along the way of the Wateringen Council House and presented three sketches for the Council House with the following rough description. The college then presented the three sketches to the council, which critically reviewed them and provided the following description. The first plan was compared to a railroad car, the second to a block box, and the third to an Old Dutch style, but Mayor Verhoeven rightly pointed out that this was not Old Dutch, but Good Dutch, as people traditionally imagined a Town Hall. Co Kropholler remained involved in designing and supervising the execution of the works until a very old age. The expansion of the Wateringen Town Hall in 1968 - 1969, may have been one of the last works.
