I see what you don't see : the Dutch contribution to the XXII Triennale di Milano, March 1 to September 1, 2019
In few places in the world is it as light as in the Netherlands. Day and night. Energy, technology and data streams have become the essential fuels for a 24-hour production landscape completely geared to efficiency and profit. This rational landscape seems to care little for the natural rhythms of day and night, activity and rest. It is in continuous operation so that the traditional distinction between light and darkness no longer matters in terms of productivity. Those who want to see a clear starry sky will have to seek that vista elsewhere. I See That I See What You Don't See exploits the complex relationship between light and dark and between seeing and not seeing as a starting point for a closer understanding of the contradictory effects of that relationship on humans, earth and other organisms. The project focuses on the omnipresence of the rational landscape that at the same time manages to make itself relatively invisible.
