Apothecary from darkness to light in Meppel
Nicolaï-Chaillet describes her conversion of a dark home with alcove into a bright space. First, sliding doors with adjoining closets and alcove were removed. Next, a large glass front was installed with the upper glass line level with the (lowered) ceiling. Additional light was obtained by some fluorescent tubes along the wall. Relationship with inside and outside was strengthened by extending granite floor and masonry wall and placement of awning on the inside and outside. The work/craft table, tea cabinet and storage cabinet for prints were designed by Nicolaï-Chaillet. Photographs are by Wouter van Heusden.
