M.F. Duintjer and D.J. Istha designed a Diaconessen hospital in Breda in 1952 (sketch design). The hospital consisted of a bed house, a treatment house, a service house, a high-rise building and garage, and a sister house. The total cost including furnishings was fl. 7.9 million. Dr. H. Buys, medical director, from The Hague was chairman of the building committee. Heat engineering consultant R. Veenhuizen of The Hague was advisor. Van Koolwijk was the garden architect. B. Hendriks made a glass-in-concrete window of the chapel. Jan Groenesteyn made a mural in the waiting room of the outpatient clinic. The on-site construction office was under the direction of A. Th. van der Plas.
