A large number of students will remember his name with awe and reverence. He was one of the increasingly scarce figures in architecture standing on the border of two worlds, on the one hand connected to the solid craft of the 19th century, on the other hand full of open interest in the possibilities of the new age.< br> Until his twentieth year, after attending the trade school, he learned the practice at the firm of Eilman [= firm of brothers Eilmann?] in Zaandam to then become draughtsman with architect Carron [= F.M.J. Caron?] Thereafter, he was for many years first draughtsman at the office of Eduard Cuypers, where he was highly regarded as chef de bureau. As was customary at that time, he obtained the necessary industrial acts, then called Md and Me, with evening studies. Since 1930 he was a teacher at the H.T.S.-Dongestraat 12 in Amsterdam and worked together with the architect A.R. de Vries in Amstelveen. His vigor, ambition and indestructible optimism will be remembered by many. He finally specialized in teaching the knowledge of building materials and thus continued the publications of an equally solid craftsman predecessor namely architect Sirag [= M. Sirag Jzn., 1882-1936], a teacher in Utrecht. As an architect he followed the evening study of the H.B.O. in Amsterdam. After his retirement, he became a highly regarded employee of his son Jan Wiedijk's architectural office in Wageningen.
