The canopy is an assembly of twelve hyppar shells with a total ground plane of approximately 46.2 x 147 meters supported by a dozen supports at intervals of 50.4 meters. The ground plane of each shell is 21 meters. In view of the unusual canopy, an extensive series of wind tunnel tests were taken at the National Aerospace Laboratory. The calculation was performed by ir. J. Pestman of the engineering firm Oosterhoff, Tjebbes and Barends in Arnhem. The execution was commissioned to the Fa. De Vries Robbé at Gorinchem under the direction of the Steel Construction and Bridge Maintenance Department of the Dutch Railways.
