This is a typescript for which it is not known what it was intended. The character of the city of Leiden is rapidly changing from a quiet city with quiet canals and footpaths to a city where highways and freeways dominate. The old Leiden resident, who loves his city, is moving to the outskirts of the city where the objections are even less valid and where the lack of the canals is compensated by a wide view and a little garden. It is from this perspective that one views the initiative to establish Den Leidschen Hout. Den Leidsche Hout which is to form the link between the densely built-up city center and the countryside contains not only more walking terrain but also sports grounds. The plan will be carried out by unemployed people. The first tree was planted by the Mayor on Friday, Nov. 22, 1929.
