Rhythm is a force that helps you be healthy, persevere and feel good. Rhythm is of all times and all around us. In the moon and stars, in ebbs and flows, in streetcars, buses and stoplights, at home and at school, on the Internet and in your phone. This book invites you to explore your rhythms and the rhythms of the world around you. The book "We are rhythm" brings together stories from researchers in science and the arts about their experience of rhythm in a rapidly changing world. The rhythm research is part of the research program Values for Survival that took place parallel to the Dutch pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia 2021. The New Institute commissioned the pavilion and developed the presentation Who is We? The institute invited architect Afaina de Jong and artist to Debra Solomon to present their respective research projects The Multiplicity of Other and Multispecies Urbanism. Prof. Dr. Caroline Nevejan, Chief Science Officer Gemeente Amsterdam, was approached to develop a flanking program. In collaboration with Dr. Huda AbiFarès, Nevejan orchestrated the interdisciplinary research Values for QR-co Survival from winter Lower 2020 through summer 2021. In light of the climate crisis, Nevejan and AbiFarès asked more than a hundred scholars and artists to contribute to the research on bringing together physical and social agendas in the city. The research took place primarily online at the time of the COVID19 pandemic. The results of Values for Survival have been published in three consecutive cahiers.
