In the book "The Bee Balcony," Caspar Janssen writes about the mission to bring nature to the city. Under the motto "don't whine but do," Janssen decided in early spring 2019 to transform his bare city balcony into a paradise for butterflies, bees and other critters. This led the inexperienced gardener on an educational, joyful and sometimes stunning journey of discovery, not only on his own balcony, but also through the world of growers, potting soil, bee and butterfly plants, insect hotels, plant pots, insects, birds, other critters, biologists and neighbors. With the help of experts, he eventually succeeds in his mission: to create a balcony jungle with hundreds of species of critters, who suddenly consider his balcony a source of food and an ideal biotope for reproduction.
