The book Eindhoven Variomatic tells of a search for what makes the city of Eindhoven special in its spatial appearance. The question is whether, with all the superplans to solve the housing task and densification in the center, an urban identity will emerge with an Eindhoven character? Unconventional and open in nature. In which residents and newcomers can recognize themselves and from which you can read that Eindhoven is a city of experiment and imagination, vibrant for young and old and made for all speeds. It is argued that to build this city of tomorrow you need to know yesterday's Eindhoven well in order to make appropriate choices now. By switching steplessly between past, present and future while designing, an inspiration is released that makes a characteristic Eindhoven possible. An urban identity that manifests itself particularly in the center through an inclusively designed public space. In which the combination of the Eindhoven stone and the Brabant landscape together with special buildings such as Lichttoren, Evoluon, Blob and new 'specials' bear witness to the future-oriented identity of this city.
