Redesign Rietveld

The iconic furniture designs of Gerrit Rietveld (1888-1964) are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers and artists worldwide. As a result, the famous Red-Blue Chair and Zigzag Chair, as well as lesser-known Rietveld furniture, have had numerous often idiosyncratic descendants. Exhibition maker Harry Hoek, fascinated by the variety of objects he came across, decided to make scale models of them. Redesign Rietveld is a parade of sometimes subtle, sometimes playful or even contrary designs by Maarten Baas, Frank Gehry, Barbara Visser, Allessandro Mendini, Ted Noten, Joost Swarte and many others, always meticulously executed in 1:3 scale.
