This is the first booklet of a series on the work carried out at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century by the Rotterdam Steam Factory for the manufacture of Gilded and Polychromed Mirror Frames, Furniture and Decorations for the Interior and Exterior of Buildings, with the application of Painting and Sculpture, Trade in Clear and Foiled French Mirror Glass, Furniture Fabrics etc. etc. C.H. Eckhart. Each booklet is devoted to a specific location to which the firm of C.H. Eckhart has contributed in one or more of its competencies: design and/or production and/or installation of mirrors, furniture, wall, chimney and ceiling paneling, curtains, carpets, tablecloths , hardware, chandeliers, that is, of everything that, individually or together, contributes to the decoration of an interior. This booklet is about the contribution of the firm of C.H. Eckhart to the furnishing of the building of the Royal Archives, built by order of H.M. Queen Emma and H.M. Queen Wilhelmina in The Hague, next to Noordeinde Palace, in 1896-1899, under the direction of architect J.P.E. Hoeufft van Velsen and architectural supervisor W. Neelmeijer. C.H. Eckhart supplied the furniture for the Director's Workroom and the Visitors' Workroom in 1899, the furniture for the Library Reading Room in 1900 and an additional writing desk in 1904.
