The model is a competition model created to show the final design to the client on the occasion of the 1915 competition. It shows only the front facade; the rest of the building is not shown in the model. In the model, Van der Steur included the existing buildings on either side of the newly designed main building, so that the bank's board could assess whether the new design fitted well with the facade view of the Oude Turfmarkt. In order to be able to compare the designs with each other properly, it was determined, in consultation with the client, that all models would be done on a scale of 1:50. The use of materials and colors should also have been coordinated, but the board came out with guidelines for this too late. Van der Steur followed the board's wish to execute the model in the scale.
