Original tubular steel chair without back legs (Gispen model 201, variant: unica) after a design by W.H. Gispen. The backrest has a different round shape. The chair has been reupholstered with a black Manchester fabric (Peach cloth B.H.890). The chair stands in the dining room of Sonneveld House and is part of an original Gispen dining table and six dining chairs. The table and chairs were chosen from the Gispen furniture catalog no. 52, but adapted to the specific needs of the Sonneveld family. The home for the Sonneveld family is one of the best surviving houses in the Nieuwe Bouwen style. It was designed in the early 1930s by architects Brinkman and Van der Vlugt. They were also responsible for the interior, working closely with W.H. Gispen.
