Dining Table (Gispen Model 516)

Dining table made of steel with two planing tops (Gispen model 516) to a design by W.H. Gispen. The table has four pushbuttons at the corners, with the original wiring. An electrical outlet is built into the base of one of the legs, which allowed the table to be connected by a cord to a service bell. The table stands in the dining room of Sonneveld House and is part of an original Gispen dining table and six dining chairs. The residence was completed in 1933 and was built for the Sonneveld family to a design by the architectural firm Brinkman and Van der Vlugt. They were also responsible for the interior, working closely with W.H. Gispen.
