Chromed tubular steel chair, with seat of brown-red colored rattan, by design of Erich Dieckmann. The garden chair stands in the living room of Sonneveld House. The Sonnevelds had a similar, tubular steel chair in the outdoor room, the balcony area at the rear of the sitting room. Garden furniture was not supplied by the Gispen company in 1932. For this, therefore, it was necessary to look elsewhere. Two of the garden furniture pieces could be identified as designs by Bauhaus designer Erich Dieckmann. Presumably they were supplied by the firm of Metz & Co. A very similar specimen was purchased in 2001. House Sonneveld was completed in 1933 and was built for the Sonneveld family to a design by the architectural firm Brinkman and Van der Vlugt. They were also responsible for the interior, working closely with W.H. Gispen.
