Presentation model chancellery and official residence Warsaw
Presentation maquette for the chancellery and official residence in Warsaw. In the green surroundings of Łazienki Park, the Netherlands presents itself with a distinctly contemporary embassy. For the design, Van Egeraat drew inspiration from the 17th-century Dutch architect Tylman van Gameren, whose designs include "the Palace" in Nieborów, "Branickich" in Białystok and the Church of Saint Kazimierz in Warsaw. Like the architecture of Tylman van Gameren, the embassy is characterized by relative simplicity with an eye for detail and finish and the way decoration is applied. An example of this is the engraved double glazing applied to the corners of the building. Also, the creatively designed fence on the street side of the embassy was applied both for decoration and separation. Many of the same materials have been used both inside and outside the building. Glass, concrete and wood are the main components and through ingenious use of similar material on the floors inside and as paving outside, the building seems to extend from the inside to the outside. The project was completed in 2005.
