Chair, wrs. for Jan Wils' own residence, Westvlietweg in The Hague. Chair constructed by invisible mortise and tenon joints from stiles and rgels of rectangular cross-section. The three planks forming the backrest are curved. The legs are stabilized at the bottom by side rungs and a center rung. At the bottom of the legs, the chair has feet of coromandel wood. Within the four lines of the seat frame lies, slightly recessed, a plank. The recessed position suggests that the seat originally supported a cushion, which is now missing. Between the side rails and the front rail are triangular blocks, reinforcing the corner joints.
