Quellinus, Artus I or the Elder
Artus Quellinus the Elder comes from a lineage of Flemish sculptors. He learned his trade from his father Erasmus I. From 1630-40 he stayed in Rome, where he came into contact with Frans Duquesnoy and Bernini. In 1640 he settled in Antwerp. From 1650-64 he worked in Amsterdam on the new city hall.
