Algemene Katholieke Kunstenaars-Vereniging (1920-1991) The Algemene Katholieke Kunstenaars-Vereniging (AKKV) was an association with a standing organization of all Catholic practitioners of the arts in the Netherlands. The association was founded on December 22, 1920. The main board of the association consisted of the groups Bouwkunst (originally called the Architectural group), Beeldende Kunsten, Siererkunst, Toonkunst, Letterkunde and Tone Kunsten. The first four groups mentioned above actually functioned as such, the last two did not get beyond their establishment. Each professional group was divided into regional circles, corresponding to the Dutch dioceses, with a diocesan commissioner at the head of each circle, who sat on the group board. The Catholic Society of Architects (KVA) joined the group in 1946. From 1922-1930, Mededelingen was the organ of the architecture group. From 1930-1933, Van Bouwen en Sieren was the organ of the architecture and fine arts groups. From 1933 Van Bouwen en Sieren was incorporated into the RK Bouwblad (1929-1939), making it the official organ of the AKKV. From 1940-1942 the name was Het Bouwblad, and after a hiatus it continued as the Catholic Construction Bulletin in 1946. This existed until 1959 and continued as Tijdschrift voor Architectuur en Beeldende Kunsten. In 1982, the name of the association became Algemeen Kristelijk Kunstenaars Verbond.
