F.J.A. den Tex (1897-1969) and J. Hillebrants (b. 1906) François Joan Adriaan (Frans) den Tex (Arnhem, 1897), after HBS, took drawing lessons at the Quellinius School in Amsterdam. He then went on to study architecture at the Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule in Zurich where he received his diploma in 1923. After working for several years for various architectural firms, including the Baanders firm, he made a major trip through Asia in 1926. In 1927, he established himself as an independent architect in Amsterdam. Around 1947, Den Tex associated with the architect J. Hillebrants, who had already worked for him as an architectural draftsman before the war. Around 1965, Den Tex stopped working as an architect. Den Tex died in 1969. Jan Hillebrants (Amsterdam, 1906) attended the School voor Bouwkunde, Versierende Kunsten en Kunstambachten in Haarlem (1922-1927). Until the war he worked as an architectural draughtsman at various firms, including the architectural firm Baanders (1928-1930) and F.J.A. den Tex (1930-1939).From 1940 to 1947 he worked as a shopkeeper in dairy products in his father's store. In 1947 he returned to the architectural profession and associated himself with Den Den Tex. After Den Tex ceased work in the mid-1960s, Hillebrants continued the firm for several more years. Den Tex and Hillebrants built mostly residential houses and schools, but also completed several larger housing projects in Amsterdam Slotervaart and Gestel, among others. The style in which they built was quite traditional, with elements of the Amsterdam School and the Gooi country house style. NB: the oeuvre of F.J.A. Den Tex and J.
