Oudejans, Hendricus Theodorus
H.Th. Oudejans
The architectural practice of Har Oudejans (1928-1992) was located in Amsterdam. As an architect, he designed many churches and houses, especially in the 1950s and 1960s, and also worked on some renovation projects. He then devoted his time to the professorship at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft.
His view of the environment was critical, and he moved within the Dutch avant-garde from the 1950s onward. Members of the Cobra movement and of the Forum editorial board were among his friends. Moreover, together with Constant Nieuwenhuys, Armando and Ton Alberts, he signed the first proclamation of the Dutch section of the International Situationists. The Situationists opposed the individual work of art and were in favor of the collective creation of a sphere of life. The Dutch explored unitary urbanism; a new kind of integral urbanism that was to emerge through the creation of constantly new relationships and situations, through constant experimentation. Constant's New Babylon plan emerged from this will.
