Willem Bogtman (Bergen (N.H.), 1882) began his career as a house painter and drawing teacher. In 1912 he started a studio for stained glass windows and stained glass. Bogtman, who lived most of his life in Haarlem, belonged to the so-called Haarlemmer School that worked in the art deco style, among others. In the interwar period, his studio was considered one of the most prominent glass studios in the Netherlands. He worked with J.H. Toorop and R.N. Roland Holst, among others, and his company made windows for the Scheepvaarthuis and the Agnietenkapel in Amsterdam. Bogtman died in Haarlem in 1955.
