A. Kurvers (1889-1940) Anton Kurvers worked from 1918 to 1928 at Publieke Werken, municipality of Amsterdam, first as temporary supervisor (1918-1922) and later as deputy bureau chief (1922-1928). During this period he also taught classes at the school for higher architecture education. In 1928 he became a teacher of interior design at the Institute for Arts and Crafts on Gabriel Metsustraat in Amsterdam. Kurvers was active as a graphic designer, and he was a board member of the VANK. He achieved his fame in the field of street furniture with the winning design for a mailbox for the PTT (1921).
