G. (Gerard) A.C. van Zeijl (Schiedam, 1940), architectural historian and theorist, author, curator of exhibitions and architect. He is best known as an architecture teacher. With his own way of teaching, he played an important role in the teaching of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), from his appointment as an academic staff member in the year 1970 until his retirement in 2005. In addition, he works as an author. In 2010, his three-volume book Beyond the Seven Days of Architecture was published. In this publication, on the basis of a large number of themes and topics, he gives his vision of architectural education and design practice. From 1975, in addition to contributions to books, he published a large number of articles in professional journals, including Archis (formerly Wonen TA/BK), the Architect, Contour, Oasis, Plan and Wiederhall. He organized, mostly under the title "The Eindhoven School, The Modern Past," a number of exhibitions on the work of his students at the TU/e, held a number of lectures at symposia and conferences, including at the conferences of the International EAAE (European Association of Architectural Education), of which he was the representative for the Department of Architecture at the TU/e from 1985 until his retirement, and he realized several buildings.
