Koster, Klaas
K. Koster (1885-1969)
Klaas Koster studies architecture at the Königliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich from 1910-1915. His teachers there included professors Carl von Marr and Martin von Feuerstein.
Koster is a pupil at the Rijksnormaalschool in Amsterdam in the period 1904-1906, where J. Visser and W.B.G. Molkenboer are among his teachers, and then attends the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam from 1909 to 1910, where Pieter Dupont is professor of graphic art at that time. He leaves for further training at the Akademie in Munich, obtains his M.O. degree in drawing and receives an honorable mention. Koster became known primarily as a versatile painter of portraits, still lifes, cityscapes and landscapes, not as an architect. He does design his own house at 44 Javalaan in Hilversum (ca. 1920) in the modern style.
Note: the oeuvre of K. Koster is not (completely) inventoried.
