The Netherlands Institute for Spatial Planning and Housing (NIROV) exists since 1917. NIROV has a number of permanent structures within which people meet or organize other activities, such as sections and working groups. There are also ad hoc working groups and committees. The following list is not exhaustive: Section of Spatial Planning and Research (SRPO) formerly Section of Spatial Researchers (SPO); Section of Public Housing (SVH) later Network of Public Housing; Section of Planning Lawyers (SPJ) later Section of Spatial Policy and Law (SRR); Section of Environment (SMIL); Section of Emancipation in Spatial Planning and Public Housing (SEIROV); Working Group Europe, Working Group VIRO, Working Group Landscape, Working Group Monument Care; Working Group Library. The sections also have working groups. The following text gives a good idea of the activities of the NIROV as NIROV itself expressed them. NIROV has both individual and institutional members. Every member receives the monthly magazine Stedebouw & Volkshuisvesting (S&V). NIROV is an independent organization, with no advocacy purpose." By institutional members, NIROV means provinces, municipalities, research institutes, consulting firms and other market parties. Individual members are to be sought among administrators, designers, planners and consultants.
